XD 581C Zirconia Flap Disc

The XD 581C is a zirconia alumina flap disc with active filler cooler cutting technology, built for weld removal and blending on stainless steel and mild steel under high contact pressure. Sharp, self-sharpening zirconia grain combined with a sizer coat that prevents burn marks delivers sustained high stock removal without overheating the workpiece. In head-to-head testing on 10mm stainless steel: 25% better grinding performance against the leading competitor.

Product Information

Features
- Premium self-sharpening zirconia alumina and premium aloxide blend grain on X-weight polycotton backing with sizer coat
- Sizer coat enhances heat resistance and prevents burn marks in high-temperature grinding applications on SS and MS
- New Generation Resin Bond for better adhesion and enhanced performance life under high rotational and contact loads
- Available in Type 27 and Type 29, standard and high-density, 4" to 7", hub 5/8-11
Benefits
- Self-sharpening zirconia grain maintains high stock removal through the full disc life on SS and MS weld removal — consistent performance without increasing pressure as the disc wears
- Sizer coat prevents burn marks on stainless steel and alloy steel surfaces under the sustained heat of high-pressure grinding — workpiece surfaces stay clean
- New Generation Resin Bond holds grain through the centrifugal and contact forces of high-speed disc operation — no grain loss on demanding weld removal
- New Generation Resin Bond anchors grain through the combined rotational and contact forces of heavy weld blending — disc integrity maintained from first use to last flap
- 25% better grinding performance on 10mm stainless steel at 11,500 RPM — tested robotically, against competitor product
Advantage
- 25% better grinding performance on 10mm stainless steel at 11,500 RPM, tested robotically — the largest performance margin in the CUMI flap disc range
- Sizer coat and active filler combination addresses the two simultaneous failure modes in heavy SS grinding — heat tint and grain capping — in a single specification
- High-density variant available for applications demanding faster initial cut rate on heavy weld beads before transition to controlled blending
