XD 599+ Ceramic Flap Disc

The XD 599+ is a ceramic and premium aluminium oxide flap disc with supersize Top Coat, built for high-speed weld removal and blending on stainless steel, heavy steel, and superalloys where heat buildup causes tinting and ordinary discs cap before the weld bead is gone. Ceramic grain self-sharpens under high contact pressure — the disc cuts as aggressively on the last flap as the first. The Top Coat prevents capping and controls heat at the grinding interface. Tested against competitors: 15% higher material removal on 10mm stainless steel at 11,500 RPM.

Product Information

Features
- Microcrystalline ceramic and premium aluminium oxide hybrid grain on X-weight polycotton backing with supersize Top Coat
- Top Coat prevents capping and facilitates cooler cutting — protects SS316L, superalloy, and heavy steel surfaces from heat tint under high contact pressure
- New Generation Resin Bond with better bonding strength — grain anchored through the full rotational load of high-speed flap disc grinding
- Available in Type 27 and Type 29, standard and high-density flap range, 4" to 7"
Benefits
- Ceramic grain self-sharpens under high contact pressure — cut rate on stainless and superalloys stays aggressive from the first pass through the last flap, no slowdown
- Top Coat keeps the grinding zone cool enough that SS316L and superalloy surfaces don't develop heat tint — components come off clean even under sustained high-pressure blending
- New Generation Resin Bond holds grain through the centrifugal and contact forces of high-speed disc operation — no grain loss on demanding weld removal
- 15% higher material removal on 10mm stainless steel at 11,500 RPM in head-to-head testing — measurable on the component count per disc
Advantage
- 15% higher material removal in robotic testing at 11,500 RPM on 10mm stainless steel — a production number that translates directly to fewer disc changes per weld station
- Supersize Top Coat is the specification differentiator for stainless and superalloy work — it is what prevents the capping and heat tint that terminate an ordinary ceramic disc's useful life prematurely
- Available in both standard and high-density flap range — high-density for faster initial cut, standard for controlled blending on precision fabrications
